Aromatherapy is an holistic treatment aiming to produce a physical, spiritual, emotional and mental sense of wellbeing through inhalation and massage using essential oils. Used for thousands of years, essential oils have a number of natural medicinal properties known to benefit both psychological and physical conditions and can be used in many versatile ways.
Carrier (also known as Base) Oils are used to dilute Essential Oils. When applied directly to the skin, Essential Oils need to be diluted to the ratio of 6-8 drops of essential oil/s per 15ml tablespoon of Carrier Oil. Some people use up to a maximum of 1 drop per ml for a strong brew, but we advise not to use this strength until you have progressively tried out different strengths to know what is best for you.

Please note: If you are uncertain about your sensitivity to an oil: using 2 drops of essential oil in a teaspoon of vegatable oil, put a drop of the mixture in the crook of the arm or back of the neck at the hairline. If there is no irritation after twelve hours there should be no problem. If there is you may retry the test in a weaker dilution or try a substitute oil.
